* Megève *

A family History since 3 generations

Megève is situated on a mountain pass dominated by the Christomet peaks, Mont d’Arbois, one of the most beautiful viewpoints over Mont Blanc, and Rochebrune.

Its importance as a tourist destination dates back to the 1910s when the famous Rotschild family decided to make it their secondary home. It was subsequently decided to turn Megève into a ski resort which would symbolise French-style living. From its beginnings, the village was much loved by the kings and queens, who came here for their holidays. Today a world-renowned ski resort, Megève is recognised as one of the most beautiful skiing villages in the world and is frequented by famous figures all year round.

Many events have also contributed to the international fame of the village :
- Megève Polo Masters, an international polo tournament played on snow (January)
- The Fête du Cheval et du Traîneau (Horse and Sleigh festival), which is over 50 years old (July)
-The Snow Golf Cup, a unique golf tournament played on snow on the Mont d’Arbois plateau
- and The International Jazz Festival which features many wonderful jazz singers who bring life to the streets and bars of Megève (July)

Megève is also famous for the high quality of its ski slopes, and for the fact that it is part of the “Evasion Mont Blanc” domain of ski resorts which includes resorts such as Saint Gervais Les Bains, Combloux, La Giettaz, Cordon and Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce. The domain has 162 different slopes (over 450 km in total) offering superb, permanent views over Mont Blanc.

Last but not least, the village of Megève is just as enjoyable in summer as it is in winter, and offers a multitude of activities such as bowling, flying, horse riding, climbing, golf, paragliding, hiking, tennis, mountain biking and summer sledding, as well as a forest adventure trail and fitness trail. It also has a sports complex, the Palais des Sports (swimming pool and Olympic ice rink, climbing wall, tennis lessons, etc.)
